How to fix roller garage doors?

If you have an old roller garage door you may find that due to rust and general wear and tear the door develops problems with opening and closing. This can of course pose a serious security risk, particularly if the garage is attached to your house.

Occasionally people will attempt to make repairs themselves. It may be that if there is trouble with the sliders then a bit of WD40 on the tracks may be enough to lubricate the door back into action. However, be very careful before attempting any major repairs to the roller garage door. The doors are extremely heavy and any attempt to dismantle a particular part could cause the entire door to fall leading to serious injury, particularly if the roller garage door is old and suffering from corrosion.

For this reason our advise is always the same – even if you are an experienced DIY’er, think very carefully before making any serious repairs yourself. It is usually far more sensible to hire an expert to make the changes.

If you rent the property then in all probability any costs incurred will be covered by the landlord, and even if you own the property yourself the costs are unlikely to be significant as an expert will be able to make all necessary modifications in a very short period of time.

However, before doing anything it may be worth sending us a short email or giving us a call to explain the exact nature of the problem, as sometimes, particularly if the door is old, it may be that you are better off investing in a new roller garage door altogether. You can be sure that our garage doors prices are competitive.
